Chris Morton sent this gorgeous Red Racer to become part of the PGM collection.
If it looks familiar to you it should as it was featured in Transworld MX
magazine in February 2008. This bike was a labor of love for Chris and he
even raced it once. He shared this bike with Honda factory rider Andrew Short
for an article on vintage Hondas. I hope these pictures make you as happy as
the bike makes us.
Chris purchased the bike from the original owner that purchased it from Al Baker.
When purchased from Al it had in-house modification done when bike was picked up:
Original forks were revalved
Motor was built by O Smith
Installed FMF up pipe with new side panel
S and W shocks installed
Swingarm was changed to Thor or Cross up (not sure which one it is)
In the mid 80's Chris purchased the bike as it was ridden and stored
for years. Then he did a full restoration including:
Rebuilt new motor with Mugen Kit
New Mikuni 32 mm carburetor
New Mugen copy cone pipe
NOS Ceriani Magnesium forks and triple clamps (custom made the stem and stops to fit frame)
New Aluminum Works Performance Shocks
New Sun wheels and Buchan spokes bearings replaced
New seat cover
Aluminum handle bars and Magura levers
New Chain and sprockets
New cables
Aluminum Brake retainers
