1971 Suzuki TM400
This Suzuki is the first mass produced japanese motocross bike imported to the US. Suzuki had
just hired Joel Roberts, Roger Decoster and Sylvain Geboers to ride a Suzuki. However the RH
series they rode was nothing like this. Rick Seimans has written that this is one of the 10
worst bikes EVER made. It was very powerful but you couldnt turn the bike and it was horrible
in any bumps. The bike was known as "The Widowmaker", due to the number of horrible accidents
riders had on this bike. Rich Thorwalson campaigned one very successfully in the desrt. Go figure.
We were all set to do a full restore on the TM we had when Dean Haight out of Colorado offered
us this bike. What a great example of his work. As you can tell from the pictures he knows what
he is doing. No detail was left lacking. The engine has been cpompletely gone through and new
bearings seals etc put in. The engine was on its original bore and had very little time on it.
Dean did a first class complete restoration on this bike and we are waiting on more bikes from him.
